Snakes are long bodied legless reptiles and come in a large variety of colours and sizes. Snakes occur all over the world and in the oceans, except in extreme cold places. Most snakes available in Pet shops are constrictors and not venomous. Constrictors strike their pray and hold on to them and coil their bodies around the pray, squeezing harder every time the pray exhale. Eventually the pray suffocate and then it is swallowed. Before buying a snake, the eventual size and its needs must be considered as some snakes can reach sizes in excess of 5 meters while other need special humidifiers or cage setups. Tree boas need special cage setups like: High humidity, warmer temperatures, high cages (as they are tree dwellers) and special feeding techniques. Tree boas should not be handled to often, especially when they are hatchlings. The most important thing to consider when planning to obtain a snake is the holding facility. Once again, do not keep a pet in an enclosure that is not suitable for it. If you can not afford the correct terrarium for your snake, please wait until you are good and ready to do it.
