It is therefore important to make sure that the food is gut loaded and get sufficient water to drink. The Leopard Gecko originates from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran and India and lives in dry rocky areas. Leopard Geckos are nocturnal carnivores and easily eat crickets and mealworms. They also eat their own shed skin which gives them added protein and nutrition and in the wild it might be a defense mechanism by not leaving any scent markers behind for their predators.
